Church Aims

What is the church aim?

Our aim at Mount is to be God’s people gathered around the cross by God who lives in us by his spirit and speaks to us through his Word.  We are called to be like God, being a people of unity, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self – control – bringing glory to God.

As we do all this we must aim to reach out to our family and friends, the people who pass through the town centre, Mount pleasant hill, the Marina and the whole world with the gospel – and to live a life that reflects the gospel.

All of this must be for the glory of God.  Everything we do as a church must fulfill these aims.  We must not waste our efforts on anything less.

The bible tells us we are to be equipped for every good work through god’s word.

How do we achieve these aims?

The main teaching occurs on a Sunday morning and Wednesday night (where we also pray that God would empower us).  On Sunday nights the gospel is preached so that we have a weekly opportunity to bring unbelievers under the sound of the gospel.

We also provide bible teaching for each member on each specific task that is carried out in the church.

We believe that everyone should be working together to have a church that reflects God’s glory and reaches out with the gospel.  Each person will know and understand what God says about how they fulfil their roles, rejoicing in what others do without being critical, recognizing each part of the body has a different but important role in the whole.

Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.  I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel (Philippians 1:27 NIV)

The pastor’s and elders’ job is to make sure all this happens.
